Behind the Collection: Every Story Earned Its Wings
There are clothes you wear because you like how they look.
Then there are pieces that remind you of who you are.
The Wings Collection ’26 was created to be the latter.
This is the first official collection from Tru Phoenix Apparel, and from the beginning, I knew I didn’t want to create five shirts simply because the designs looked good. I wanted every piece to have a reason for existing. I wanted the collection to tell a story.
And more importantly, I wanted that story to feel familiar to anyone who has ever had to become somebody new after life changed them.
Five Pieces. One Journey.
The Wings Collection consists of five pieces:
The Weight.
The Shatter.
The Transformed.
The Ascension.
The Wings.
Individually, each piece represents its own experience.
Together, they tell a much larger story.
Because becoming rarely happens all at once.
Sometimes it begins with the weight—the things we carry quietly, often long before anyone realizes how heavy they have become. Sometimes comes the shatter—the moment life interrupts whatever version of ourselves we thought would continue forever. But broken does not have to mean finished. There can also be transformation. There can be ascension. And eventually, there can be the moment when we look at everything we have survived and finally recognize something that may have been developing all along: the wings.
This Was Never About Pretending the Ashes Didn't Exist
Tru Phoenix has always been interested in what happens after.
After disappointment.
After loss.
After change.
After the plans fall apart.
After life introduces you to a version of yourself you never expected to meet.
The Wings Collection does not romanticize those experiences or pretend every difficult chapter immediately produces something beautiful.
Instead, it honors the journey.
The weight mattered.
The shatter mattered.
The transformation mattered.
Every stage helped create what eventually learned to rise.
That is why one belief sits at the heart of this collection:
We Were Never The Ashes. We Were Always The Wings.
The ashes may be part of the story.
They were never the identity.
More Than Apparel
This collection also represents an important moment for Tru Phoenix Apparel.
I didn't want our first official collection to introduce itself by simply saying, Here are some shirts.
I wanted it to tell you who we are.
Tru Phoenix Apparel exists at the intersection of style and story.
What you wear can be visually powerful while still carrying meaning. A design can look good and still say something. A shirt can become a conversation, a reminder, an affirmation, or even a piece of someone's personal story.
That philosophy shaped every decision behind this collection—from the individual designs and color choices to the imagery, promotional films, music, and overall presentation.
Nothing needed to scream.
It needed to mean something.
Every Story Earned Its Wings
Perhaps that is the most important part.
The wings aren't presented as something handed to us.
They are earned through the journey.
Through carrying.
Through breaking.
Through rebuilding.
Through becoming.
Through rising.
And although these five pieces were created from a particular story and vision, what they represent doesn't belong exclusively to me.
Your weight may look different.
Your shatter may have happened somewhere else.
Your transformation may still be happening.
Your ascension may only be beginning.
But perhaps somewhere along the way, you'll recognize yourself in one of these pieces.
And maybe that's what this collection was always supposed to do.
Not tell you what your story is. Simply remind you that your story has one.
